Pianist: Janet Philpot

Picture of Janet PhilpotA love for music has been instilled in Janet since the age of two. Singing “You Are My Sunshine” drove her parents crazy as they traveled. Janet’s musical abilities were given to her by God’s hands. Raised in Preble County, her parents couldn’t afford music lessons but a Grange member from Eaton bought her a Starr piano and gave her lessons (one year of those lessons was on a kitchen table until she learned the notes and chords). Her goal was to be a Therapeutic Music Teacher working with handicapped children but a trampoline fall in the eighth grade changed that dream. She graduated from Miami University with a BS in Elementary and Special Education with a minor in Music and Library Science. Her master’s degree was earned at Indiana Picture of the Saved By GraceWesleyan in 1999 in Educational Leadership. She has been a teacher since 1976, teaching in the Twin Valley System until 1986 and in the Richmond Community Schools until present.
She is a member of the Saved By Grace Ministry Team along with Judy Mayrer, Michelle Sayne and Gracie. She and Judy are licensed evangelists who love spending time visiting hospitals, nursing homes and making home visits to those in need, singing, sharing and working with the residents in a Kitchen Band. They also enjoy the many retreats that they have done for families, women and teens from Lewisburg to South Dakota and all those states in between.
Music is the life of a church which ministers to the hearts where joy and sadness can be found. She is very excited to be playing at Lewisburg and her love of music is evident each time she plays or sings.
